These systems help to make your driving experience safer and more enjoyable. We're going to take a look at these Chevy safety features and a couple of other available systems that will keep you safe on the road. IntelliBeam You need high beams when you're driving at night in an area with no streetlamps. Unfortunately, their angle and brightness can blind drivers heading in your direction. IntelliBeam uses sensors to detect other headlights and automatically shifts to low beams until the vehicle moves out of its field of vision. more Following Distance Indicator This feature uses radar to identify a vehicle in front of you. It compares your speed to the speed of the other vehicle and then displays the distance between the two vehicles in seconds on your screen. This allows you to easily decide if you need to reduce speed. Forward Collision Alert This system uses a camera and radar to identify vehicles, pedestrians, or animals in front of your vehicle. It calculates your speed and compares it to the speed of the detected object. If it determines that you're closing too fast, the system provides audible and visual warnings to advise you to brake. Automatic Emergency Braking This feature works with the Forward Collision Alert above. If you can't respond in time, this system will automatically hit the brakes to prevent an accident or reduce the damage from an unavoidable accident. Front Pedestrian Braking This feature automatically applies the brakes if a pedestrian or animal is detected in front of your vehicle. Lane Keep Assist A forward-focused camera identifies the lane lines on the road. This feature then works to keep your vehicle positioned in the center of the lines. If your Chevy drifts across the lines, Lane Keep Assist will warn you by gently turning the steering wheel back toward your lane. Additional Systems High Definition Surround Vision This feature uses multiple cameras to give you a digital overhead view of the area around your vehicle. It displays this view on your screen together with a camera view straight ahead or directly behind you. The rear camera is particularly helpful for parallel parking or reversing, allowing you to see and avoid objects in your path. Side Bicyclist Alert This system uses the side sensors to identify bicyclists that enter the blind zones on the side of your vehicle. It will also warn you against opening your door if a bicyclist is detected.
